KATHMANDU, April 15 | A total of 298 people residing in Sun City Apartment in Pepsicola, who underwent rapid diagnostic test (RDT) for antibodies today, have tested negative for COVID-19, the Ministry of Health and Population said.
Spokesperson at the ministry Bikash Devkota said that 298 people residing in the residential complex tested negative for coronavirus during the RDT.
“The testing of the swab samples of other people living at the apartment has come negative,” he said.
On Tuesday, two members of the same family living at the apartment had tested positive for COVID-19 while another member tested negative. 81-year-old woman (mother) and 58-year-old man (son) had tested positive for COVID-19 while the 52-year-old daughter in-law tested negative for deadly virus. The three COVID-19 suspects had arrived in Nepal via a Qatar Airways flight on March 18.
On Monday, they were taken to Patan Hospital after testing positive for the new coronavirus through the RDT method.
The spokesperson of MoHP, said that the condition of both the positive-testing individuals is normal. Currently, they are in isolation wards at Patan Hospital.
There are more than 500 families residing at the Pepsiola apartments.
With the confirmation of two new cases, the total number of COVID-19 cases in Nepal has reached 16, with one patient already having recovered from the infection.
